Scarsdale, NY real estate

The lush forestland that has blossomed into the Village of Scarsdale was originally purchased by a man named Caleb Heathcote near the end of the 17th century. Heathcote’s family lived on the land exclusively until his death in 1721. The acreage began splintering into pieces in 1774, leading to the official founding of Scarsdale in March of 1788.

Residents of Scarsdale enjoy leafy, quiet neighborhoods in a small town or village-style setting. So much so that it might be easy to forget how close they are to the hustle and bustle of the megapolis that is New York City. Some of these neighborhoods include Green Acres, Fox Meadow, Quaker Ridge, Heathcote, and Edgewood.

There are also quite a few famous people who are associated with Scarsdale: James Fenimore Cooper, Yoko Ono, Benjamin (Bugsy) Siegel and soap opera star Susan Lucci.
