The City of Yonkers is a bustling metropolis located just outside of New York City. Located in Southern Westchester County it is the largest City in the County and the 4th largest in New York State. Many consider Yonkers to be the “sixth” borough of New York City, with Manhattan, Staten Island, Brooklyn, Queens, and the Bronx being the other five. Located on the east bank of the Hudson River, Yonkers borders with the Bronx, Tuckahoe, Bronxville, Eastchester and Hastings on the Hudson and is only two miles from Manhattan’s northernmost edge. Residents enjoy a relatively short 25-30minute train ride to Grand Central Station.

The location of The City of Yonkers offers all the conveniences of an urban or suburban community, along with the charm and serenity of a small town.

The city puts on several free cultural activities and events, such as opera, dance performances and theatrical productions. It also draws upon the natural beauty of the Hudson River on its West side. Each fall more than 30,000 people come to Yonkers for the environmental and multi-cultural themed Hudson River Festival. There is a boat ramp that you can launch your boat into the Hudson River for some water fun.

In addition to the myriad of cultural offerings in Yonkers itself, there are virtually endless art galleries and performing arts venues about 20 minutes away in Manhattan.

Amtrak also serves Yonkers, with some Harlem Line stations situated in or close to the city's eastern edge, including Crestwood, Wakefield and Bronxville.

The Westchester County Bee-Line Bus System and an MTA Bus Company express route to Manhattan serve the bus commuting needs of Yonkers.
